چکیده

We have examined the frequencies of trapped two-armed (m = 2) nearly vertical oscillations (vertical p-mode) in vertically isothermal disks with toroidal magnetic fields. The magnetic fields are stratified so that the Alfvén speed, cA, is constant in the vertical direction. We have particularly focused our attention on how frequencies of the fundamental mode (nr = 0) and first overtone (nr = 1) in the radial direction change with the correlation, when the ratio c A=c 2 s changes, cs being the isothermal acoustic speed. The results show that in the case where the oscillations are the fundamental mode (n= 1) in the vertical direction, the correlated frequency changes of the above-mentioned oscillations seem to well describe, with standard values of the mass and spin of the central sources, the frequency correlation of kHz QPOs observed in neutron-star X-ray binaries.

Resonant Excitation of Disk Oscillations in Two-armed-Deformed Disks and Application to High-Frequency QPOs

In previous papers we showed that in a one-armed deformed disks, p-mode and g-mode oscillations are resonantly excited by horizontal resonance, and applied it to high frequency QPOs observed in low mass X-ray binaries. In that model, the observed time variation of kHz QPOs is regarded as a result of a time-dependent precession of the deformation. In this paper we consider another possible cause...

A Vertical Resonance of G-Mode Oscillations in Warped Disks and QPOs in Low-Mass X-Ray Binaries

Resonant oscillations in warped disks are examined in order to explain highfrequency QPOs and horizontal-branch QPOs in low-mass X-ray binaries. Different from our previous work, addressed to the same subjects, we relax in this paper the assumption that the disks are isothermal in the vertical direction. That is, the pressure, density, and temperature are assumed to be distributed in the vertic...

Excitation of Disk Oscillations by Warps: A Model of kHz QPOs

The amplification of disk oscillations resulting from non-linear resonant couplings between the oscillations and a warp is examined. The disks are geometrically thin and general relativistic with non-rotating central objects. By using a Lagrangian formulation, a general stability criterion is derived. The criterion is applied to horizontal and vertical resonances of g-mode oscillations and to h...

Frequency Correlations of QPOs Based on a Disk Oscillation Model in Warped Disks

In previous papers we proposed a model that high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) observed in black-hole and neutron-star X-ray binaries are disk oscillations (inertial-acoustic and/or g-mode oscillations) resonantly excited on warped disks. In this paper we examine whether time variations of the QPOs and their frequency correlations observed in neutron-star X-ray binaries can be ac...

Of NBOs and kHz QPOs: a low-frequency modulation in resonant oscillations of relativistic accretion disks

The origin of quasi periodic modulations of flux in the kilohertz range (kHz QPOs), observed in lowmass X-ray binaries, is usually assumed to be physically distinct from that of the “normal branch oscillations” (NBOs) in the Z-sources. We show that a low-frequency modulation of the kHz QPOs is a natural consequence of the non-linear relativistic resonance suggested previously to explain the pro...
